PLANNING AHEAD

Construction committee consolidated the various opinions and suggestions and decided to meet the Neema Construction for consultancy sevice. They gave a rough estimate and plans for the renovation. The general body approved the plan and deccided to start the work as soon as possible. Our Vicar Rev.Fr.Sajan T John played an important role in making the parish as a single unit and the parish started works under the leadership of Sajan achen.

THE GENERAL BODY DECIDES TO RENOVATE THE CHURCH

As the managing committee forwarded the renovation issue to the general body, the general body held today discussed about it. Vicar Rev.Fr.Sajan T.John presided over the meeting. Members of the parish discussed the various pros and cons of the issue. After analysing various factors the meeting unanimously decided to renovate the church and complete the work in two years. General body appointed Mr.M.Mathew Eluvelil as the convenor of the renovation works. It also appointed a 25 member renovation committee to look after the work progress.

NEED FOR THE RENOVATION OF THE CHURCH

As time passed the reopening the closed church was becoming more and more difficult. The metran kakshis was not ready for any peaceful permanent settlement or any mediation talks. Its around 35 years and there was no signs of any peaceful settlement. So the parish members thought of renovating their present chapel. It was discussed in the managing committee and and unaminously decided to forward the issue to the parish general body.

CHURCH HISTORY

Before we go into the renovation details , just to remind history of the church. Manthalir St.Thomas church was established in 1863. Since then church is under the Holy Apostholic See of Antioch and members of the parish has shown true faith and allegience towards the H.H. Patriarch of Antioch.
Manthalir church is one of the ancient churches in the Thumpamon Diocese of the Jacobite Syrian Orthodox Church.
